Brief Description
In general, the weir plant and sand trap system can be divided into the following construction sections
Weir plant with fish ladder (orographically left), HW weir, secondary outlet, Tyrolean weir and command reservoir (orographically right) cross channel and sand trap system incl. flushing channel.
The Schwarzach is slightly dammed, by approx 2.8 m, by a solid weir with a total width of 21 m. The weir has various weir crest heights in the different sections. The damed-up water passes via a cross channel approx. 25m long that crosses beneath the Hopfgartner Grabenbach, into the sand trap system located at the left bank of the Schwarzach, which consists of the inlet channel, the two sand trap chambers, the flushing chamber with flushing channel and the extraction overfall with the control rooms where the solids carried from the Schwarzach are separated from the works water. From the extraction overfall, the works water goes into the extraction basin, that acts to regulate the turbines and as an accumulator for operational transfers.
